Introducing Mionetto

For 125 years Mionetto in Valdobbiadene has been writing the history of Prosecco, interpreting this outstanding local wine and telling the world about it. Ever since it was founded in 1887, the winery has always been considered modern and innovative, due to its ability to anticipate fashions and trends while maintaining strong bond with the traditions of its homeland, a feature which still today sets it apart from other sparkling wine producers. 

Passion, tradition, research and excellence are the fundamental values of this winery and its brand, each with their own unique, unmistakable style.

I had the opportunity to welcome to Canada soon-to-be world leading Prosecco brand, Mionetto, over a lovely cocktail party hosted by the winery and notorious ristorante Italiano in Montreal, Fiorellino. The art of food pairing set the tone as the perfect introduction to such a fresh, fruity and light sparkling wine that, in the mind of most guests as well as mine, seemed to be, first and foremost, appropriate for dessert course.

The elegance of Mionetto Prosecco pairs well with the lightness of a butternut squash carpaccio. It refreshes your palate after more spicy and flavorful dishes like fancy porchetta sandwiches and prepares you for the next course. It blends to perfection with the acidity of tomatoes in a Pomodoro sauce, over Gnocchi. And of course, after having tried so many different courses, and now finishing with chocolate for dessert, a perfect finish is found in a flûte of light, elegant Mionetto Prosecco, a wonderful alternative to a heavy and overly sweet wine dessert.
