Friday's Favourite Five | Sake Infused Skin Care

When it comes to skin care and cosmetics, the North-eastern Asian industry is slowly but surely taking over the entire global market, with Japan and South Korea both fiercly competing for the title of the world's most innovative beauty industry. While more and more South Korean brands such as Amore Pacific, Chosungah 22, Belif, Tony Moly, you name it!, are currently making a name for themselves here in America, representing the best of what's happening in Korea right now, Japan is introducing the world's leaders in skin care to a natural, organic component which has been proven to do pretty much all sorts of miracles for your skin and complexion, and which has been part of their local culture for over 1500 years.

Sake, or rice wine, is often used in Japanese beauty products and can be used topically to brighten and even out your skintone as it contains a skin lightening acid called kojic acid which will inhibit hyper-pigmentation within your complexion. At first glance, the connection between a sake brewery and this new secret weapon to skincare perfection is not that obvious but by taking a closer look, scientists discovered that this natural component had incredible enlightening, rejuvenating and repairing powers, which would make it the next best ingredient to add to skin care recipes, therefore, replacing the formers chemical and toxic components currently used in the making of these formulas, in order to seriously make that 100% natural and organic turn the beauty industry is leaning towards. During a chance at observing workers at a sake brewery in Japan, scientists noticed the elderly workers hadwrinkled faces, but something was causing their hands to stay smooth, clear and younger looking; their hands were in constant contact with the yeast fermentation process which caused them to ultimately look younger !

Yet, another factor boosting the cosmetics business and my personal appreciation of the Asian beauty industry ;)
