MAISON MARGIELA 'Artisanal' Collection

Moss and Wintour clapped, whooped and laughed as the finale dress came into view !

Earlier today, John Galliano returned to Fashion’s stage for his first couture show since 2011 (his last at Dior), deconstructing and constructing a new story for Margiela, piece by piece. I know I usually don't write about off-Fashion Week season shows on PBTH but standing here in front of a selection of carefully curated looks I loved made me feel inspired and in a mood to share a bit of my creative insights with you guys ;) This truly is one of the things that inspire me the most from day to day and Fashion purists will agree; a process of discovery, returning to one's roots. No particular message was conveyed here, only a deep commitment to the extraordinary possibilities of the Maison’s Atelier and the art of Haute Couture.

So it was in London that Galliano approached tailoring, techniques, craftsmanship like a new explorer; one who sees beauty in things that are often taken for granted, giving everything a newly enriched life. He surely made good use of a fierce yet, quite renied mix of fabrics and materials and headed towards a whole new direction, cleverly playing with proportion and sartorial rules ! The whole Fashion industry assisted to the birth of a nouveau genre of a revealing silhouette.

Red, black, gold, retro-tinged glamour and dramatic explosions of tulle, oh-so Galliano !

Make up by Pat McGrath. Hair by Eugene Souleiman.
