Wynn Las Vegas & Encore Resort

Friday, November 28, 2014

This afternoon, I am taking you back to the effervescence of our one-night stay in one of the most high-profile destinations of the United States, Las Vegas. I know, I know... Today's topic was scheduled for last Monday but bare with me; we've been experiencing a few issues with the visual content and, of course, I absolutely refuse to feed you anything that wouldn't be A+ material ;) But hey, back to Vegas, which happened to be MY favourite stop along the way of our 'West Coast Road Trip' ! Since we could only stay in Vegas for 24 hours, most of what we saw was the hotel resort we stayed at, the Wynn Las Vegas & Encore Resort. Thankfully, the property happens to be so big, it almost felt like if we had our own little city in a city. The 2034 total rooms venue was incredible, to say the least !

The Esplanade
Karl and I stayed in the Encore Resort which has its own private entrance (and valet parking), surrounded by slots machines, restaurants, cafés and boutiques. I remember thinking the place was filled with energy and affluence which made me feel like it was part of a dream. Life in Vegas and especially at Encore switches up from our casual routines to the fast lane in a matter of seconds and this was a feeling I will never forget ! Once we check-in and had our luggage sent straight to our room, we decided to walk around a little to get familiar with the place as much as we could. Ironically(!), we ended up finding our way to paradise (at least MINE!)… The Esplanade, a golden path leading to the beautiful Encore suites. The Esplanade at Encore (the Wynn Hotel also has its own!) boasts 10 luxury boutiques that feature everything from runway Fashion and evening wear to fine jewelry and timepieces. With 20,000 square feet of retail space, the Esplanade showcases select retailers and brands exclusive to Las Vegas and the United States. I personally had to make a few stops at Chanel, Hermès, Nicholas Kirkwood, Jaeger Le-Coultre and The Spa Shop to spoil myself a little before getting some serious work done during the next eleven days. After all, I was on the West Coast for business, now was I ?!

One particular detail I was very fond of was the great care with which, as a guest of the resort, I was treated along my shopping experience. With the stores of the Wynn Las Vegas at their fingertips, the house caters to every single of its guest's needs by providing a reliable and extremely qualified team of personal shoppers who can make selections for their clients to review in their suites or private showroom while they are visiting.

Encore Tower King Suite
Now, I wouldn't necessarily say that whenever I'm traveling I tend to get homesick, I really don't, but I do appreciate a certain at-home kind of feeling in a hotel room I take residency in. I'm also not saying I expect a duplicated of the fairly minimalistic and refined appartment I own here in Montreal but I like to live in a place rather organized and fonctional. Our suite at Encore was on one of the upper floors and the real WOW! factor definitely came from the amazing view we got from the floor-to-ceiling windows. I just can't get enough of a skyline view and this one was particularily stunning. But aside from a terrific view, a major sunset and gorgeous sunrise (yup, we experienced all three!), the King suite we stayed in warmly welcomed us to what I like to call, a little piece of heaven.

One of the major stand out factors for me was how conveniently structured the room was with, among others, its bedside touch-screen curtains, lighting and privacy controls. I also enjoyed a lot my time working with a complimentary high-speed Internet access, full desk stationary, an iPhone dock and a cordless phone, which can seem to be commonplace but surely comes in handy when, let's say, an unexpected conference call comes up..! The bathroom was also quite impressive, featuring flat screen TVs, dual sinks and closets, separate shower, water closet and whirlpool deep-soak tub. Plus, the Encore Tower King Suite includes a comfortable seating lounge with a marble wet bar area and coffee table, for either relaxation, entertainment or more intimate business meeting.

But of course, as much as I appreciate the comfort of a room, it is the genreal experience that always amazes me the most. As guests of the Encore Towers Suites, we got to enjoy daily in-room breakfast for two, daily coffee service, fitness center access, twice daily maid service, which is all part of the Encore experience ! Our choice was to try out Tableau restaurant for breakfast instead of having it delivered to our room and we haven't been disappointed. But hey, we'll discuss this one next week ;)

The Carousel & Hot Air Balloon
If you are familiar with the whole Las Vegas trip thing and have visited the Strip for yourself, you probably already know that almost every single hotel on Las Vegas Boulevard is famous for its specific playful installations. The Paris Las Vegas Hotel has its own Eiffel Tower, the Venetian Hotel has a replica of the Venice Canal on which you can book yourself a nice Gondola ride ;) The Wynn Las Vegas & Encore Resort has been owning since 2013 two exuberant floral installations of a hot air balloon and carousel for permanent residence in its atrium. Quite a magical experience you'll live if you ever get the chance to visit the exhibition !

The flower Carousel and Hot Air Balloon are the masterpieces of Mr. Preston Bailey and its team of craftsmen who spent more than 3,500 hours designing the two installations weighing today thousands of pounds and requiring more than 110,000 flowers ! The Wynn Las Vegas is already well-known for its lavish commitment to floral designs, so these wonderful installations happen to fit perfectly with the existing decor. To me, this public exhibition demonstates a true dedication to craftsmanship and brings a certain enchanted feel to the hotel. I remember walking through the Wynn's entrance and feeling quite overwhelmed by such oppulence. This smuddering feeling then slowly dissapeared and made room for countless moments of amazement. While the Encore Resort would be a great choice for a weekend getaway with you significant other or with your girlfriends, due to it's more Casino-like grown-up set-up, the Wynn Hotel is definitely children-friendly and suitable for family vacations with its colorful and entertaining lobby area.

When traveling for business, one of the most important feature of an hotel happens to be the Fitness Center for Karl, but for me, it has to be the Spa area. Whenever I'm feeling tensed or stressed, there is nothing like heading a luxury relaxation destination to gather my thoughts and regain my strength and energy. I have to say the Spa at Wynn was very good to me, allowing me to indulge my senses and get pampered before our big dinner that night. Not too much of a surprise when you know that the Wynn Spa has recently been awarded five stars by Forbes Magazine !

If you're familiar with the blog, you're probably already aware of the fact that when it comes to meditation and treatment of the body, mind and spirit, I always rely on one of the most coveted and prestigious urban spa in Quebec, Canada; Éveil des Sens. This is one of the reasons why whenever I'm on the go, I find it difficult to adjust my routine and step out of my comfort zone. Old habits simply die hard and I can be very critical of an experience that doesn't compare to what I am used too. I guess this would be my annoying customer side ;) But hey, aside from that, I am usually a very nice and pleasant guest ! Back to the Wynn Spa—which happened to positively surprise me on my visit with an extensive list of skincare treatments that really did seem to cater to all of my needs. Among others, the Wynn Spa offers a range of purifying and hydrating facial experiences for every skin type including the Custom Facial and the Radiance Facial. I particularly liked that the Spa at Wynn offered many options for a younger clientele, aside from their typical firming and anti-aging treatment. And this is mostly what their philosophy is all about ! All treatments are expertly designed with the guest in mind and feature the most luxurious products to create an unpararalled, exclusive experience.

Exclusive experience.

Additionally, the Spa contains a lavishly equipped fitness center with a steam room, sauna, whirlpool and a lounge. Basically all of the amenities guests need to feel revitalized, relaxed and refreshed. The space blends glamour and simple elegance with unexpected design elements to create an intimate, atmosphere that encourages guests to unwind and experience a deeper state of relaxation.

Le Rêve
Another entertainment experience I would definitely suggest if your in the area of Las Vegas would be to attend one of the incredible and jaw-dropping performances of the even so talented cast of Le Rêve, presented exclusively at the Wynn Las Vegas. The show has recently been voted “Best Show in Las Vegas” for the fourth year in a row and has pretty much redefined the traditional theatrical experience of any show you could watch while in Vegas. Not only does it features an ambitious blend of aerial acrobatics, captivating choreography and beautiful imagery, but above all Le Rêve is a unique entertainment experience with elaborated effects and powerful performances that conjure an imaginary world, at once intensely beautiful and breathtaking.

From a thrilling high-dive to synchronized swimmers doing the tango in red high heels, Le Rêve is mesmerizing from the beginning to the end, showcasing comedy and dance interweave with athleticism performed by an international cast of more than 90 athletes and entertainers ! The show lasts 75 minutes and on the busiest nights, solds out and seats a grand total of 1608 guests. Tickets range from $105 to $195 but careful here, if you happen to be seated in either row A or B, expect some splashing here and there ;)

Claude BARUK Salons at Wynn & Encore
As mentioned in my previous post, tomorrow, I'll get you behind-the-scenes at one of the most prestigious Salons in Las Vegas, the Claude BARUK Salon at Encore. This was definitely a thrilling experience I will never forget and meeting Claude simply was such an incredible opportunity. This is one of the things I enjoy the most about what I do—it's the amazing people I get to meet along the way !

In a nutshell, the salon features 12 hairstyling stations, eight pedicure thrones & manicure tables and two makeup stations. While originally from Saint-Tropez, South of France, both Claude BARUK salons at Wynn and Encore are the mastermind's very first salons in North America, building their internationally acclaimed reputation on a full team of professional stylists, colorists, manicurists and makeup artists, working with high-end lines including Kérastase, L’Oréal Professionnal Color and Shu Uemura hair products and cosmetics.

In terms of Hair Spa Treatments, the salon caters to a wide range of women’s and men’s cuts, colors, styles and special services including Le Balayage De Claude, Rendez-vous Privé and the Women’s Signature “5 Step Cut”.

The Claude BARUK Salon at Encore also features a deluxe private room with two all-purpose styling stations and two pedicure thrones. Classic and custom manicures and pedicures, gel polish and gel sets are available right from there or in the comfort of our guest rooms.

Pools & Beach Club

The pools at the Wynn Las Vegas & Encore Resort would probably be the most social spot of the entire property, if you'd ask me. They combine fitness, entertainment, relaxation, gastronomy, bar service and many more, all at once in their ideal beachy set-ups surrounded by heavenly landscapes. Featuring two spacious resort pools and two Jacuzzi spas, the Wynn pool is indeed an ideal retreat for its guests and private cabanas including with mini-fridge, plasma TV, plush chairs and sofas can be reserved for the ultimate Wynn poolside experience.

Both Wynn and Encore offer beautiful, temperature-controlled pools surrounded by immaculate gardens. The secluded, adults-only European area also allows topless sunbathing, which is quite clever for a family-friendly resort. But the true jet-setters will definitely be even more seduced by Encore Beach Club, the premier destination for the trendsetters seeking the quality party atmosphere usually found in European hot spots. The deck offers couches and day beds also featuring private safes and guests preferring a cooler spot can choose to lounge on oversized lily pads, resting in shallow water.

And as if this wasn't enough, an even more private Encore Beach Club experience can be found at one of the 26 V.I.P. cabanas outfitted with refrigerators and flat screen TVs. The exclusivity and opulence of the eight bungalows have set Encore Beach Club apart from its predecessors, offering views of the Las Vegas Strip and of the pool party action itself. What else makes this mysterious V.I.P. enclaves are featuring ? Private dipping pools, showers, lavish furnishings and a temperature-controlled cooling and heating system set to each guest’s preferences.

The very finest.
